I actually looked up how medical malpractice worked earlier this year when I found out that the ENT surgeon who performed my first sinus surgery in 2025 didn’t actually accomplish any of the surgery goals. Unfortunately, medical malpractice basically demands someone is dead or maimed. I am neither.

In the End, it’s the Math that Will Get Ya
Because my Risperidone taper isn’t going that well, I started wondering, what does the future look like? When I drop the dosage again, am I likely to have the less withdrawal symptoms, the same, or possibly more? I Googled this question and then I realized, I didn’t do the math.
Continue readingAlone at my Bipolar Misdiagnosis Party
I found out in July that I am not bipolar. This misdiagnosis presented a huge shift in my life. I was excited to tell people I didn’t actually have this devastating illness. But after I started talking about it, I realized something… no one seemed all that happy for me.
Continue readingThe Taper is…. Going
Unfortunately, even with this slow taper, it feels like I’m going to pay that pound of flesh one way or another. Days 5-7 of the taper got pretty brutal. I was having vagal surges, I was so anxious I felt like I was floating, and I felt exhausted without doing anything.

I love Disney’s Descendants, the Disney Channel Original Movie series. After a million views, I noticed something strange: I couldn’t remember any of the songs’ lyrics. Beyond the most memorable line in the chorus, I had no idea what the next words were, even though I had heard them so many times before.

When I was recovering from sinus surgery, which fixed my breathing issues, I realized something: my gums stopped bleeding when I brushed my teeth. Before surgery it didn’t seem to matter what I did, my gums would bleed every time. Not a lot, but always a little.
Continue readingReflections Upon Turning 41
I was really excited to turn 40. Granted, my body was falling apart, and I was having so many health issues, I could barely make up enough rules to avoid behaviors that would make me sick, but gosh darn it, I was optimistic. The last few years I had really come into my own and felt like my mental health issues were finally under control. And then everything fell apart.
Continue readingToday is the Day!
Today I begin my Risperidone taper. This one is going to take 3 months. Which is contrast to the last one, which took 5 days, and then kicked me into withdrawal so bad it blew up my entire life. But anyway…
Continue readingMother Pheasant Plucker…
I started having perimenopause symptoms when I was 38. It started with my hair thinning. A lot. Then came the fatigue, the hot flashes, the brain fog, the confusion, THE RAGE!!!! and it just didn’t seem to stop. But I am now off the birth control and I’m not having any perimenopause symptoms either.
Continue readingHealth Recap: Because the Situation is Still Evolving
So last Thursday, I went in for what would be my second surgery this year. I thought it might be a good idea for me to revisit all of the various health ailments I have been experiencing and give an update on their current status.
Continue readingThis Feels Personal…
I am trying to tell myself, if I get all of this bullshit sorted out now, maybe I can compact every single medical issue I will have into 2026 and once 2027 rolls around, it will be smooth sailing. However, it also seems naive to be that optimistic at this point.
Continue readingIt Appears I Don’t Have Sleep Apnea
Cut to 10 years after my first sleep test and it turns out I have nasal valve collapse in both nostrils and my inability to breathe is neatly explained by this fact. I have sinus surgery and wouldn’t you know it? The daytime sleepiness is gone. My snoring is gone. I stop having any and all symptoms of sleep apnea.
