When I first started at my previous job, last year, it quickly came to my attention that there had been at least three people before me in the role in quick succession. I filed that away as just terrible luck for the company. But then I started to understand why that may have happened…

Random Thoughts: Furniture Store
During the interview the marketing manager told me that it’s unfortunate, but sometimes the higher ups will shout at you during the course of your duties. She said it was important that the right candidate is able to shake off being screamed at and keep working. I was surprised how relieved I was when they ghosted me.

Brain: What if you don’t pass the background check? You’re all big and bad now, but what happens if you fail?
Me: … Did I commit a felony I am unaware of? What exactly would come up on my background check?
Brain: I mean, you did get that speeding ticket three years ago.
I Got the Job!!
I feel so thankful for everyone who has supported me. Everyone who has crossed their fingers while I waited. Everyone who reached out to say congrats on my official New Job Social Media post. Even when things were dark, I felt surrounded by love and I am so thankful for everyone who was a part of that.

I once read that someone from a low-income household might have one shot at being a successful entrepreneur. Someone from a wealthy family? They have an unlimited amount of shots. How many times did someone hear a multi-billion dollar company started in a garage, just to find out it also had a seed fund of several hundred thousand dollars?

It struck me as sad to see her doing this to herself, not because she loved her body or she wanted to feed it healthy food and move it in ways that made her joyful. But because she didn’t trust herself. But this made sense in a way.

I used to be a VIP. I got free shipping. I got a $20 gift card for my birthday. They loved me at Torrid! Now I am a lowly Insider, with no perks to speak of. For literally over a year, I hadn’t purchased anything from Torrid, online or in store.
Continue readingI Aspire to Wear Real Clothes
I have bought a few pairs of new pants to tide me over before I reach my goal weight and replace my wardrobe. Of course, I don’t know what my goal weight is, or when I will reach it, but that will not stop me from planning ahead!
Continue readingCrack Chicken Casserole
I seriously dislike when someone on Pinterest tries to convince me to pin their recipe by putting the word “crack” in it. First of all, I find it tasteless to invoke the name of a life-destroying drug to get someone to click on your bland casserole.
Continue readingUnintended Consequence of Low Self Esteem
When I was a kid I always felt like I was constantly out of my depth. The complex post-traumatic stress disorder that I lived with robbed me of an identity. For me to compare myself to someone else was silly. It didn’t matter what the comparison was going to be, I would always imagine myself losing horribly. There was no point in trying!

My mom did send two postcards that weren’t signed. One told me I didn’t know what she meant when she said what she meant about what she said. Or something along those lines. I literally couldn’t understand the message. The other one just said “Happy 40th Birthday.” Like I am a distant relative and she saw my birthday coming up in her calendar.
